A new Helldivers 2 Warbond called Control Group arrives this month, and it brings a powerful new weapon that can actually be risky to use if a player has a ton of ammo. This premium reward track also adds new support weapons, two armor sets, and more equipment to help aid players in the fight.
The Control Group Warbond arrives on July 17 for PC and PlayStation 5, and you can find all of the details on the new gear below. Additionally, Helldivers 2 arrives to Xbox Series X|S consoles on August 26.
VG-70 Variable
The main highlight of the Control Group Warbond is the new VG-70 Variable, which is described as a beefy seven-barrel volley gun with three different firing modes:
- Auto – which has three selectable RPM values
- Volley – which fires a single shot from each barrel at once
- Total – which fires all remaining ammunition in one go
Players might want to be wary of using the Total firing mode on the VG-70 Variable if they have a ton of ammo. According to Sony’s blog post, using the Total firing mode with a lot of ammunition “may result in bodily harm to the user.”
G-31 Arc
Control Group includes the new G-31 Arc grenade. This is a lightweight grenade that bounces while discharging electricity, allowing it to strike both enemies and friendly Helldivers caught in its proximity.
PLAS-45 Epoch
The PLAS-45 Epoch is a new support weapon. This weapon fires a plasma sphere that will explode if you overcharge it, so players will need to handle this gun with care.
A/LAS-98 Laser Sentry
Control Group adds a new sentry turret. The new A/LAS-98 Laser Sentry can continuously fire a laser beam, but as with most Helldivers 2 weapons, players will want to use this turret with caution. The A/LAS-98 Laser Sentry has the potential to overheat and explode if the player doesn’t allow for a cooldown.
LIFT-182 Warp Pack
The new LIFT-182 Warp Pack can be used to create a wormhole and teleport short distances. Of course, the price of teleportation is risky. The wormhole cannot maintain integrity for extended periods, as it will destabilize over time and may cause death to the player.
New armor sets
Control Group comes with two new sets of armor. The AD-26 Bleeding Edge armor allows for a greater ease of movement, while the AD-49 Apollonian heavy armor is stronger protection for all of the Warbond’s dangerous new weaponry.
