Tony Hawk 3+4’s Unexpected Guitar Hero Reference Is Being Removed After Being Deemed Disrespectful

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 contains a number of Easter eggs and references to pop culture, but not all of them are going over well. One specific reference has been discovered that might not have been intended to be in the game in the first place, prompting the game’s developer to issue a statement.

A fan discovered that a game bearing a resemblance to Guitar Hero is in a trash can. The original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater developer, Neversoft, also made multiple Guitar Hero games, and some are taking the inclusion of the game in the trash can as a sign of disrespect to Neversoft (which closed in 2014). Others say it’s a simple joke. For its part, Iron Galaxy said it doesn’t know how this happened, but it will remove it soon.

Iron Galaxy said in a statement on Reddit, “We have the utmost respect for anyone who makes games, we’re investigating how that got in there in the first place.”
