Fans have said that while Three 6 Mafia “killed” their special-guest laden set at Coachella 2025, those in the audience did not “recognize the greatness”.
The Memphis rap group, made up of co-founders DJ Paul and Juicy J, took to the Sahara Tent stage yesterday (April 11), and were reportedly met with a dead crowd. It remains unclear if it was related to the early start time of 5pm or the heat, but viewers watching online took to social media in droves to express their frustration.
Many pointed to the younger demographic attending the Californian festival, which will see sets from the likes of Lady Gaga, Post Malone, Travis Scott, Missy Elliott, Charli XCX, Megan Thee Stallion and more over the weekend.
The legendary hip-hop group performed a packed-out 16-song set that came with a slew of fan favourites and special guests. Throughout their performance, they were joined by the likes of Project Pat, Travis Barker, Machine Gun Kelly – a notable guest given his previous claim he was banned from the festival – and Wiz Khalifa.
One X/Twitter user nodded to lack of response to the special guests, writing: “The crowd does not deserve to see project pat like wdym ur getting to see him and three 6 mafia but ur standing in the crowd like a statue and not shaking ass?”.

Three 6 Mafia also killed their set at Coachella I fear the crowd was too young or not cultured enough to recognize the greatness

Those watching on livestream also took issue with a moment the crowd were told “white people can say it” – presumably referencing the n word – prompting one fan to write: “No way three 6 mafia was just yelling “white people can say it” during their coachella set…. ewwwww, hell no.”
