Jack Black has recreated Ozzy Osbourne’s ‘Mr. Crowley’ video to mark the final Black Sabbath concert – watch below.
The legendary band’s farewell show, dubbed ‘Back To The Beginning’, took place at Villa Park in their hometown of Birmingham on Saturday (July 5), with drummer Bill Ward playing with the band for the first time since 2005.
A who’s who of heavy rock music played at the all-day event, but one figure associated with the scene did not show up in person, but instead appeared in a special video played on the big screens at Villa Park.
Jack Black, one half of Tenacious D and a well-known music aficionado, sent a loving recreation of the ‘Mr. Crowley’ video, the early solo single for Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne. In the tribute, Black wears a blue sweater with the word “OZZY” emblazoned on it and flares hanging from the sleeves, just as in the original.
Alongside Black in the video are Roman Morello, son of Rage Against The Machine’s Tom, and Revel Ian, son of Anthrax’s Scott, as well as the young musicians Yoyoka Soma and Hugo Weiss.

At ‘Back To The Beginning’, Sabbath played a streamlined four-song set comprised of songs from their first two albums, including ‘Iron Man’ and ‘N.I.B.’, with the huge crowd throwing up devil horns and shouting every word.
As they introduced ‘Paranoid’ to bring the show to an end, Osbourne told the crowd: “It’s the last song ever. Your support has enabled us to live an amazing lifestyle, thank you from the bottom of our hearts”.
A who’s who of hard rock music history played sets at ‘Back To The Beginning’, including members of The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Rage Against The Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Blink-182 joining forces for a Led Zeppelin cover and Yungblud leading another supergroup in a version of ‘Changes’, which they dedicated to the late footballer Diogo Jota.
Black, meanwhile, starred in the hugely successful A Minecraft Movie this year, scoring the shortest ever US Billboard chart hit and UK Top 40 hit with the 34-second ‘Steve’s Lava Chicken’.
The actor also performed a reggae parody of My Chemical Romance’s ‘Welcome To The Black Parade’ on Saturday Night Live in April.
