Sounds like:
Caribou, Bonobo, Four Tet

What’s so good?

There’s so much to appreciate in South African artist Sol Azure’s latest track, “Zikora.” Particularly, the uniqueness of the sonic landscape. It’s different yet welcoming to traverse.

When diving into the artist’s intention, there’s even more to chew on:

“The piece wrestles with staying true to one’s roots while navigating a Western world marked by quiet indifference and cultural ambiguity.”

This theme resonates strongly with me. At the time of writing, I’ve been exploring the contrasts between Eastern and Western culture. Born into Western culture myself, though I live in Africa, I find myself starved of African and Eastern influences, accultely aware of the downsides of the West. From here, I stand and look longingly toward those cultures I feel hold more substance, and a work like “Zikora” becomes a meaningful backdrop for reflection.
