Wildgate Hero Tierlist: All 7 Prospectors Ranked

Wildgate is a PvP multiplayer shooter, where up to five teams must explore space, collect loot, and fight for supremacy. Matches are won by either defeating all other ships, or by collecting an artifact and escaping out a Wildgate with it. You can play as one of seven Prospectors, who serve as the characters in Wildgate. Each Prospector has unique abilities and gear, making them excel at certain aspects of the game. While there isn’t a bad choice in the bunch, and the best character is the one that best fits your playstyle, certain characters’ abilities make them better at all activities in Wildgate.

7. Mophs

Mophs is the most situational of the Prospectors, good for sneaking aboard enemy ships and not much else. Mophs has Camouflage, which makes them invisible for 15 seconds, slightly increasing movement speed while active. Mophs also has the wings passive, allowing them to fly 30% faster. What’s unfortunate here is that Camouflage replaces the movement ability that other Prospectors have, making Mophs slower at moving through space than every other Prospector. Mophs also has a smaller health pool at 80 HP, which balances out their smaller frame, but the sacrifices you are making to be able to sneak on enemy ships are too much.

6. Sammo

Sammo is a ship defender, meant to excel at defending against enemies boarding your ship. Unfortunately, his passive ability doesn’t help as much as it should due to the way it functions. Sammo fully heals after defeating an enemy on your ship, and Sammo can see enemies inside your ship through walls. The issue here is that the time to kill is extremely low in Wildgate, and boarding enemies are often already shooting you before they actually enter the interior of your ship, making the sight passive a bit useless. Healing upon defeating an enemy is beneficial, but it requires you to win the first firefight, and unless you are sitting around waiting for enemies to board, you likely won’t be getting the drop on enemies boarding your ship.

5. Kae

Kae doesn’t have as many tools at her disposal as some of the other Prospectors, but she does excel at quickly moving through space, at least short distances. Her movement ability is Warp Jump, which teleports her 100 meters. Teleporting makes her the fastest character, so long as you don’t need to go much further than that. Her passive is Telekinetic, which allows Kae to interact with objects 10m away. This lets you loot faster and get to different ship stations slightly quicker, but it’s more of a nice-to-have than a must-have.

4. Adrian

Part of the reason why the movement abilities of Kae and Mophs kept them so low on the list is the existence of Adrian. Adiran also has the Wings passive for flying 30% faster, but his movement ability is the Jet Pack, which launches you through space over pretty far distances. It’s easily the best movement ability in Wildgate, and while Adrian doesn’t have any other bonuses going for him, if you like to be able to move through space quickly, Adrian is the best character for that playstyle.

3. Ion

Ion excels at boarding enemy ships, and his passive abilities genuinely make him a menace to enemy ships. His Battering Ram ability doubles his melee attacks and allows them to destroy ship parts, so you can wreck an enemy ship without going loud. This is particularly helpful for damaging the outside of an enemy ship, which can let you do some real damage without putting yourself in immediate danger. He has a slightly larger health pool at 120 HP, and he automatically reloads stored weapons, which is great since switching to your secondary is faster than reloading.

2. Sal

Sal is an engineer who has several great passives. First is the Reflective Nanites, which allows their multitool to bounce to a second target, meaning you can repair two different points at once. This essentially doubles Sal’s repair speed, which can be huge during a particularly tough firefight. Even if you are winning, the fires and damage done during a fight might leave you vulnerable if you cannot keep up with repairs, making this passive huge. Sal can also salvage items in the ship’s processor for random items, which can be great if you find a bunch of unwanted loot. Lastly, Sal has 120 HP and no critical spot, making them a bit tougher to take down.

1. Venture

Venture, the default character, takes the top spot thanks in part to their passive ability of being a robot. Robots don’t need oxygen, which is a pretty big buff in a game that takes place entirely in space. Some PvE POIs specifically don’t have oxygen as a difficulty modifier, but Venture completely ignores this, making them excel in nearly every situation. The Explorer ability regenerates Venture’s health faster than other characters, and his companion Cameron will alert you to enemies behind you, which is incredibly effective against enemies boarding your ship. Venture has a medium-sized health pool at 100 HP, but their great abilities make them the best all-around Prospector.
