GTA 6 Doesn’t Need To Cost $100 Because GTA Online Is The Real “Cash Cow,” Analyst Says

Rumors and reports about GTA 6 coming in at $100 persist, but one analyst believes that won’t happen in part because the real “cash cow” is GTA Online with its microtransactions.

Rhys Elliott of Alinea Analytics told Wccftech that a $100 price point for GTA 6’s base edition is a bad idea for a variety of reasons, one of which pertains to GTA Online. “The real cash cow is GTA Online and its recurring revenues, so limiting GTA VI’s total addressable audience at launch to make a quick buck wouldn’t be smart. Let’s also not forget there’s a cost-of-living crisis happening globally,” he said.

Elliott also mentioned that Rockstar will need to find a way to convince GTA 5 players to move from that game to GTA 6, and keeping the standard edition’s price point relatively low could be part of the plan. “A higher floor for the switching cost would limit the GTA 5-to-GTA 6 player acquisition,” Elliott said. “Players not budging from GTA 5 is probably one of GTA VI’s biggest threats–one GTA hasn’t really faced before.”
